How I work

I am fundamentally humanistic in my approach to counselling which means I believe that people have an instinctive drive to want to make themselves better. I also believe that each of us has the resources within ourselves to do this provided the conditions are right, the relationship between the counsellor and the client is where those conditions are created. The way I work with clients is by blending the core models of my training, which are Person Centered, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt. Every client is unique so our work together will be specific to each individual, their needs and their goals for counselling.

What to Expect

All counselling sessions last for 60 minutes, and will take place in my counselling studio. The studio is a quiet and private space situated in my garden, it is completely separate from the house.

When we first meet I will take some time to ask you some important information, and you can tell me what has brought you to counselling. If we feel we are able to work together we will usually meet weekly for our 60 minute session.

We can discuss together whether you would like to agree to a set number of sessions upfront, this could be on a short term basis which we can review as we go. I am equally happy to work with clients on a long term basis which again we can review during our work together.

Our therapy sessions are your time and space. The direction, length and outcome of therapy are all down to you, I am there to facilitate you in your journey.
